Gothic stainless steel jewellery

There’s nothing greater than gathering with other like-minded people, and anyone who’s into metal music will understand the excitement and validation they experience when they attend a festival.

Not only are they great opportunities to see their favourite bands, with some of the biggest acts in the world turning up at Britain’s renowned festivals, but they also bring together everyone who has the same interests, whether in music, politics, or fashion.

If you’ve not been to a metal festival before, here are our favourites:

1) Download Festival

Download Festival is the largest event of its kind in the UK. More than 80,000 people head to Donington Park in Leicestershire every year to see huge music acts, including Trivium, Metallica, Slipknot, AC/DC, and Machine Head.

It usually takes place in June across four days, and showcases sets from heavy metal, punk and hard rock chart-topping musicians, as well as emerging talent.

The line-up for Download Festival this year features Linkin Park, Baby Metal, Guns N’ Roses, and Limp Bizkit.

2) Bloodstock

Bloodstock Festival is another festival where the fields fill with people showing off their gothic stainless steel jewellery, leather jackets, and band T-shirts - and that’s not including the music acts themselves.

This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of Bloodstock, which is held in Catton Park, Derbyshire.

The August event is the largest independent metal music festival and attracts important names in the industry every year.

Metal fans can expect to see Judas Priest, Bleed From Within, and Lamb Of God this summer at Bloodstock, as well as many other impressive acts.

3) BludFest

BludFest is a new festival set up by renowned rock singer Yungblud. It was created to allow metal fans to enjoy an affordable version of their favourite festivals, enabling more people to enjoy the experience and join the community of metalheads.

The event is, therefore, focused on diversity and bringing people together, and has areas like the “Make A Friend” tent where people who are at the festival by themselves can, as it says on the tin, make a friend.

There’s also a Decompression Zen Area to support attendees’ mental health, which features charity Mind.

This year’s festival will take place in the Czech Republic, but the previous two years have been in Milton Keynes.

Anyone keen on heading to Europe for BludFest 2026 will be able to catch Biffy Clyro, Primal Scream, and of course, Yungblud himself.
