A few weeks from now, the Eurovision Song Contest will hit our screens. Whatever entrant wins (probably not Britain), or gets the dreaded nil points (hopefully not Britain), it will be hard for some to imagine that any song could be better than the winner in 2006.
The epic performance of Hard Rock Hallelujah by Lordi not only won by a mile, but also made Finland the champion for the first time. The Finns love their heavy metal, of course, but this was taking it to a new level.
Those in the know would expect nothing less from the Scandinavians. Yes, when it comes to Eurovision, we may have seen plenty of Loreen’s dance tracks or the timeless appeal of ABBA, but this was a performance that had a bit of Viking about it.
Of course, a bit of metal is not just about the music itself, but the jewellery. There is no better thing to make from stainless steel than something with a bit of true Norse character.
Whether it is rings, bracelets or necklaces, the kind of products we have would not only look great on a Viking, but maybe on Lordi when they dress up for another monster-themed gig.
However, a sense of affinity with all things Norse is not just about admiring Scandinavian Eurovision winners.
After all, back before the Norman Conquest, the Norwegians and Danes had a huge influence in large parts of England, with a whole load of place names and topographical terms testifying to their influence.
Cnut conquered England 50 years before William and it might have been another Norse king, rather than William of Normandy, who dethroned Harold Godwin in 1966, had the Battle of Stamford Bridge turned out differently.
Whether there’s a bit of Norse in you, or you just love the vibe, stainless steel Norse Jewellery can help bring it to life.
